Mexico Holds Official Press Conference for 2026 FIFA World Cup
On November 10th, the Mexican organizing committee held an official press conference in Mexico City to introducethe tournament's organizational plan
for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11th to July 19th.
This tournament will also mark a landmark change in World Cup history: for the first time, 48 teams will participate, and the format will undergo significant adjustments.
The 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group (24 teams in total) will directly advance to the knockout stage,
while the remaining eight spots will be filled by the eight best third-placed teams from each group, forming a 32-team tournament.
The three host nations (United States, Canada, and Mexico) will automatically be placed in Pot 1. Mexico is already in Group A, Canada in Group B,
and the United States in Group C.
